Introduction

Introduction [Arianna Mendez]: 

    Team 3 has been given the opportunity to observe the business environment at Legion Beauty Supplies in Paramus, NJ over the past few weeks. Our team member, Kimberly Cedeno, is currently employed at this company and has introduced us to her colleagues and IS manager. As a result, we were given the opportunity to learn how information systems are used to keep the company running smoothly as they continue to gain notable recognition from the public. Therefore, they have been able to provide us with significant information to help us better conduct our analysis and make suggestions they can consider to achieve their goals in the most efficient and effective ways.

Our Purpose [Arianna Mendez]:

    Our objective with this project is to effectively demonstrate the inner workings of a fast-growing wax supplier in the tri-state area and its impact on the beauty industry. As we learn the ways in which Legion Beauty Supplies has utilized information systems to enhance their performance as a wax distributor within the last 3-5 years, we will work as a team to then determine different solutions that will help improve its strategies to allow the company to better reach its goals and thus give them a much higher competitive advantage against others within the beauty industry.

    Legion Beauty Supplies has been ranked as the number one wax distributor in the state of New Jersey. This supplier company specializes in distributing a variety of wax products at the most affordable price which helps customers start up their own waxing business or allow those existing businesses to continue growing within the beauty industry. In fact, Legion Beauty Supplies sets themselves apart by offering affiliate programs, wholesaler accounts and discounts to their customers. They sell a wide range of essential supplies such as soft wax, hard wax, sugar wax, wax warmers, wax utensils including wooden spatulas, tweezers, cleansers, wax strips, wax merchandise, pre & post healing products, etc. Additionally, they create content throughout multiple social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram & Tik Tok to promote the products. Not only do they record and edit their own content but they also help other small businesses put their content together at a small cost.

    We have had the privilege of meeting and interviewing MIS manager, Daniel Colon, who carried out his educational career at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management back in 2012. Over the years, he’s worked at many notable companies where he had the opportunity to implement his knowledge and therefore gained the experience needed to start his own business. He worked as a sales representative manager for a sports drink company called Nth Degree selling $40,000 worth of energy drinks per month. Then, he decided to open The Peach Bar Waxing Center in Clifton, NJ. After gaining over 50,000 followers on social media, Italwax & NaturaVerde Pro, two well-known Italian manufacturers, offered this business the opportunity to become a distributor. As a result of the huge audience they acquired and this great opportunity that presented itself, The Peach Bar Waxing Center branched out and Legion Beauty Supplies came to life. At the company, he is responsible for overseeing the company's order fulfillment system, Ecwid, to make sure his teaming is being productive when it comes to packaging and shipping orders that get placed in a timely fashion. Not to mention but he ensures that his team has all the necessary resources to get the job done to the best of their ability while keeping their system up to date, administering their company website and social media accounts. Lastly, he is in charge of developing team-level strategic plans that will help the company innovate and find new methods to reach their goals in the most efficacious ways.
